"But regarding anything beyond this, dear friend, go easy. There's no end to the publishing of books, and constant study wears you out so you're no good for anything else. The last and final word is this:
Fear God.
Do what he tells you"
Ecclesiastes 12:12
I have done a lot of study recently. A lot of reading of books. And the funny thing is, that I know many other people, have read a lot more books than I. But here is what I have learned so far. Books may bestow wisdom, and help one to live. The Book is definitely one to live by in my mind. But, living out what is read, is a whole other story!
I have not written on the blog for quite some time now. A lot of the things I do these days has to remain confidential so I suppose my creative energies have been channeled other places. Some of these activities are productive, and others not so productive.
One of these places, is in my internship. When I delved into it last semester I knew that it would be challenging. I am their first art therapist intern, and so I still have, even now, a lot of ground breaking to do. And I am rouge in many ways. However, the opportunity has aloud a lot of creativity on my part, to take the program where I want. I can also say I am often flying by the seat of my pants. No book could have really prepared me for what I have encountered. in reality, I feel that the life I have lived already prepared me the most.
So it has been an adventure. And although nothing is new under the sun, it is new for me!
Part of my job is to lead an art group of teens living in residential homes. Most of them come from cultures that I feel are more foreign to me than the ones I have encountered abroad. I often feel like Christy Huddleston , who did not have to travel very far from her Nashville home to find a totally different culture. However she did not give up, and she worked hard to get to know the mountain people and as a result, discovered their many strengths.
I hope I can do the same.
As I enter a new semester, I feel that I am understanding a lot more about these teens. I often get frustrated and feel that I am getting nowhere, but I think that makes me more up for the challenge.
And I would say that this experience has also helped me grow. Often times, if anything, it makes me really appreciative of the life path I was given.
So keep praying for me and supporting me, guys! Although I have been silent, God has remained with me, and is speaking into my life. And it is such a blessing.
I love you all and pray for many of you. If you have specific requests please email me!
Happy New Year!
