The Battle Within

Jesus, a man, went to face to face combat with Satan in the wilderness.
But Jesus, a man, had direct communion with God. His life source was the creator of Satan.
I do not see Satan generally as a rule. And really don't want to. And yet we go to combat, or at least I have battle with one of his many followers quite frequently. I am created by the same one who created Satan and Jesus. And I am also that creators child. I also have a direct connection with that life source. And yet I feel there is a blockage in the system. I feel that Jesus was perfect and therefore was not inhibited by his own imperfection. I imagine his line was clear of rust.

Or maybe he had come to know that he so desperately needed the water that he just stayed at the faucet. He lived at the faucet. I on the other hand get distracted by the flies. I have not learned to depend on the water and only come when I am going through a heat stroke and am too dead in mind to fully realize how precious it is. And then when I finally come back, crawling on my knees, I angrily feel entitled to the water and shake my fist at it, saying why didn't you give it to me earlier? I demand it to save me from death. As if I was denied it at some other point. But I was not denied it. It has always been. I yank the handle open and drink. And then when I am revived again, and come to my senses. I curl up under the faucet, only to deny myself from its nourishment because I am so ashamed at not staying there in the first place. And so the cycle continues and I remain a glass only half full with not enough water to drown the minions that attack me who laugh at my idiocy. Ahh....but I have heard people say that you only need a teaspoon of water to drown. The water is more potent than I thought! But then again I writhe in shame. Why do I not trust my creator to provide what I need?! I cough a dry parched cough and grab the spoon laying in the puddle of water and toss the water at the demons. The little droplets only lightly spray my enemy. But they are afraid of the water. I am left at peace for a while.

I turn to the faucet. The metal is gone and It seems to have turned into a small spring shooting up from the ground. I wonder what would happen if I stayed here and danced in its stream? Would it grow into a waterfall? A raging river? An ocean?

What truly is the difference between Jesus and I? When we consider his humanity? Was it that he was in fact God? Or was it that He was born a man already knowing the full power of his Life Source? My theology seems to be failing me.

As I sit here frozen thinking about it, a small thought comes into light. Jesus' ability to be God and yet be able to stand as man with his feet touching the dirty earth amazes me. God left his palace for Thirty some odd years, let go of his wealth, let go of his comfort, and took on a shabby garment called the human body, felt pain, and sorrow in order to model to us how live connected to God the life source. Crazy!
My brain is tired...Water. I need Water. I think I am coming to understand this better. Thirsty = Drink. To stay healthy = Drink. Sounds pretty simple. Then why is it so hard?

AMEN and AMEN - "Let this attitude be in yourselves which was in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore, also God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE SHOULD BOW, of those who are in heaven, and on earth, and under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God." Philippians 2:5-11 [NASB]

I have always marveled at this passage - How God became man. Very humbling.
