"[Harry] felt dirty, contaminated, as though he were carrying some deadly germ, unworthy to sit on the Underground train back from the hospital with innocent, clean people whose minds and bodies were free of the taint of Voldemort ... he had not merely seen the snake, he had been the snake, he knew it now ... " - J.K. Rowling
Philippians 2:2 - Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, [being] of one accord, of one mind.
I just put Melva down for a nap, but she is still singing! This week she has been singing a lot. She has started to hum along with the songs we sing her before bedtime and the theme song from Caillu, the only tv show we let her watch (of course she also watches SEC football with daddy). Today when I sang her one of her favorites, Twinkle Twinkle, she not only did the hand motions but also she tried to say some of the words. It took all I had to continue to sing and not stop to listen to her. She then went on to sing Halelu with me, raising her hands high during the "praise Ye the Lords" and saying "Lu Lu la." Let's just say bed time can be pretty fun these days.
Bedtime has also become a lot longer and tedious process now that I am so pregnant. With one and a half weeks to go, my hips and back do not cooperate anymore. Often it takes me 10 minutes at least to get Melva to the nursery because she is running around the house giggling while I try to herd her to the room. This may or may not include climbing spiral staircases and roling on the floor tantilizing Willow with what ever dog toy she found near by.
Once in the bedroom it takes another 10 minutes to change her diaper because I pretty much sit on the floor and wait to catch her as she tries on her hats, jumps on her bed or hides behind the rocking chair that mommy can no longer fit behind. If I have my brain screwed on and am not in a completely pregnant brain fog, I will try to play with her toys or read a book to intrigue her. Let's just say she and Olivia the Pig could be besties.
This pregnancy has been an interesting one. I am very thankful that through sickness in our family I have stayed well, have had no morning sickness, and still love chocolate. However!
After recovering from first trimester sleepies, I was hit by the beginning of SI joint issues and sciatica that have progressively gotten worse. Physical Therapy helped me for a period of time and I recently have entered the the world of chiropractic medicine. Most days though I hobble about not knowing when my hip will give out. I am pretty sure if I dressed like a penguin I would look like one.
Daddy-dom suits Henry quite well. I might even go so far as it looks pretty sexy on him. My husband tackles kitchen clean up duties like a football pro, hired a temp house elf (a cheerful local who cleans for us every other week) and makes me Rooibos tea for our cuddle times on the couch while we watch reruns of Friends. Saturdays are supposed to be his day to sleep in, but recently he has gotten up to play with Melva while I sleep. The local Jupiter Donut shop (a bit of Heaven in the mouth) may be an added bonus for these daddy daughter dates. On top of this, he recently changed jobs within his company which involves more responsibility, exciting challenges, and a lot of unwanted stress.
Strangely enough, right before Melva was born last year, Henry's job also began to escalate in added challenges. Between this and my many inabilities as a home maker at the moment sometimes our generally happy little lives can become tainted with discouragement, easy coming frustration and entitlement. Especially in the last few weeks.
Which causes me to wonder on the spiritual side of things how hard the Evil one works to divide families. We as human beings, reflections of God image, also reflect the God Unit. God is family. There is essentially a father, son and mother (Holy Spirit) who act as one perfect God. Satan hates God and he hates all who love God. I think that is why he seeks to destroy family - a representational painting of God.
This is a bit if a jump, but I've been watching and reading a lot of Harry Potter (with much teasing from Henry) this pregnancy. The idea that Satan finds it easier to defeat us when we are divided is very similar to what The Dark Lord does in the books. Harry's burden of being connected to the Dark Lord makes him feel isolated from everyone else. In turn he often isolates himself because he feels his presence brings harm to his friends. Hermione often reminds Harry that Voldemort's plan is to isolate him to weaken and kill him. If Harry sticks with his friends (interestingly enough a 3-some) then Harry is strongest.
On a more life like and physical level, families are the basis of society. If families fall apart, society falls apart. Instead of love, there is hate. Instead of intact parents and siblings there are gang wars (a theory of mine). A blog I just read expands more on these concepts...
So here we are, Henry and I making a home together and growing a family... And I feel like once again we are being hit. We have found however, being thankful is our shield against these assaults. And let me tell ya! We have a very large shield.
Almost exactly a year ago we were closing on this house. It feels so wonderful to be settled. Another thankful note is that this baby is being born into a home that is not under major construction or with the plans of us moving. I never want to lose site of the fact that our true Home is a God made one, but it sure is nice to be putting down some earthly roots. Henry has a good job, I am able to stay home with the babies, we live in beautiful tropics where we can play outside all year round, we recently joined a local church that seems to be just the right Spiritual family for us and I was recently able to walk across a stage for an art show with out looking like too much of a penguin ... This list is just the tip of the iceberg.
So... Baby Knight II, I pray almost every day that we will be spiritually ready for you. As the last few days of you being cozied up in my tummy come and go, I am asking our friends and family to rally with us and pray too!
Love you all. You will get lots of photos sent your way once the big day comes (Henry and I are betting she comes on the 6th, the night of the next full moon).
