The last month and a half of camp contained some of the best and some of the hardest moments during the summer. God opened the doors for me to spend quality time with some spiritually hungry girls several of these weeks. God's light seemed to be one of the themes running through our conversation. Many of the girls wanted to know about the creation story. I told them that God's light was there from the beginning. They were captivated by this fact. One girl I came in contact with was fascinated with darkness and satanic worship. Another was controlled by her fears. We talked about how God's love and light can change us, and take away our fears. One night under the stars and a full moon we talked about how to reflect Jesus' light to the people around us. Many girls were not even sure if they knew Jesus. We talked about this too…God is good!
This last part of the summer was tough in that I was sick for a lot of it while also taking an online course. It was difficult to keep a positive attitude and I am afraid I did not always succeed. There were a lot of times, however, that after asking my Father for his strength that I saw God work in miraculous ways. Many of the encounters that I reflected on above were during those times.
Another difficult part was the fact that I had to say goodbye to many friends. There were several people in my life who impacted me greatly, and showed me Christ's love in a whole new way. I am so thankful that God gave me these friendships. I hope to retain what I learned from them, forever.
Many of you are probably wondering where I am at this moment in time. Like a meteor falling from space, I am in transit…and feeling like I could spontaneously combust. Actually, it isn't as bad as that. I am in Wheaton in my parent's apartment. Tomorrow I move into my own apartment in downtown Chicago. It has been a rushed experience trying to catch up with my parents and get things organized before moving. It is also been a wonderful experience. God has provided in so many ways. We have been given all the furniture I needed for the house. Today we also found many of the personal items I needed at World Relief, including some white Christmas lights. I have also had a lot of time to just sit and talk with my parents, which has been such a blessing.
As I move in, you can be praying for me for several things. I am truly scared out of my wits about this whole ordeal, but I know I can trust our Father. So I am just taking one step at a time! In the mean time you can talk to our Father about these:
- I would like to plug into a good church family
- I need a job
- My parents as they still wait to hear about going back on the field
Thank you all again for the support you give me, the friendship and love, and the prayers you pray for me. I am so blessed!
Keep shining for Jesus!
