The Peace

I do not know how to begin this blog except for declaring how good God truly is!
I stayed home from school today. I have been sick for a week, and have not been getting the proper rest I need due to the stress from summer term.
This coming weekend will be more difficult than even the week due to all the assignments needing to be turned in next week.

However, the interesting thing is, I have had peace this entire week and have been able to be timely in all my assignments.
I have also had a lot of clarity of thought.

One of the interesting things this summer that has come up in my classes is the term Mindfulness which has its root in Eastern Mysticism.
Our school recommends that all students go to therapy themselves to help better their own practice so I recently began going.
My counselor is not a Christian and also teaches mindfulness. On my own I have given it a more Biblical twist, praying and giving my worries over to God.
This week during a time of mindfulness God revealed this to me:

Some days I will be insecure and doubt my future and where I am going...it is only human. But Me isn't defined by my insecurity in that moment. Being Me is defined by how I face that insecurity.

This has very personal connotations for those of you who know me well, but I hope that it will be an inspiration to some of you too.

Then today, staying home and working on a sewing project, I decided to listen to a podcast from Rob Bell on Psalm 23. And guess what?! He related the psalm to mindfulness and I found his message beautiful. Here is the link:

Now I realize that some of you do not believe the same things as I do. And for those of you who are Christians, some of you might be a bit skeptical. You may not have the most positive opinions of Rob Bell either. However, I know that all of us deal with stress on one level or another. I also know that most of us are searching for peace. So If you have an i-pod - download it from i-tunes even. I hope that something will encourage you as you walk your life whether you be in a valley or near the calm waters.

Be filled with God's shalom my dear friends
