All of us see through windows. We may even look through the same widow. But we are us. And our interpretation of what is behind that window is often different then the neighbor standing right next to us. I think that has been the biggest "culture shock" that I have encountered on this journey up to now. And the funny thing is that it is indeed my neighbor that has been misunderstood or that misunderstands - my fellow travelers. We and the Aussies tend to think that because we are all from the United States, that we all think the same. In fact, it is just the opposite. Issues from the definition of the "suicide drink"(where one mixes all the soda on hand into one), to our opinions on the Pope (who has been in OZ all this week) have been different and misunderstood. Sometimes we just laugh at our differences, and other times we smile in quiet pain at supposed insults that fly our way. If only we could somehow look from the same angle as our neighbor. Some how we would be able to see more love and love more. I wonder how often the Church as a whole finds itself divided because of different views through the same window - because of a misunderstanding that is blocked by self?
As for life Down under, I am doing splendidly. As everyone said I would, I love it. Of course I am still in the honey moon period so we shall see how it goes after the month is up. School starts Monday as well. Holiday is drawing to an end quickly.
